Open channel flowmeters are used to measure flow in rivers and streams, and also in partially filled closed pipes. Open channel flowmeters typically use a primary device such as a weir or flume, together with a flow transmitter to calculate flowrate. Other methods are available, including variable area. This study includes ultrasonic open channel flowmeters.
